Notes what happens with cold storage and handling options

In the process of operation, cold storage will appear some phenomena, so it is necessary to pay attention to these phenomena and deal with each situation. And to handle it in the best way requires the operator to have solid knowledge and experience, let’s see what phenomena are there.

1. Moisture leakage phenomenon:

The air in cold storage has low temperature. When circulating through the indoor unit, some water is condensed. Therefore, the air vapor pressure difference in the chamber is smaller than that of the outside. Therefore, steam tends to penetrate into the room through the wall of insulation.

– For masonry warehouses, moisture when entering can wet the insulation layer, reducing the insulation properties of the material. Therefore, when building the warehouse, it is necessary to sweep the tar layer and lined with waterproof oil paper. Oil-proof paper needs to be lined with 2 layers, overlapping layers of eyelids and sealing tape, creating a continuous moistureproof film over the entire area of the warehouse.

– For warehouses made of insulation panels because the outside and inside the warehouse have a layer of corrugated iron, so there is no possibility of moisture leakage. However, it is necessary to avoid sharp objects that puncture the insulation board, leading to wetting the insulation board. Therefore, in cold storage, people often make wooden pallets to avoid scratching the floor when pushing carts, sharp objects in the process of transporting goods.

– Between the insulation panels when assembled, there are small gaps that need to be sealed with silicone, sealant. Outside the cold storage, people also bury iron columns about 0.8 m high to avoid being bumped and damaging the warehouse shell.

Our cold storage system provides.

2. Phenomenon of ground edema due to freezing:

Reason:

– Cold storage for long-term preservation, cold air passes through the insulation panels to the ground. When the temperature drops, water turns into ice. This long-term accumulation process makes the rock mass larger, leading to swelling of the ground, destroying the construction structure of the insulation panels.

Remedies:

– Create space under the base of the insulation board for floor ventilation: Install cold storage on eels or support frame system. The ventilation eels are poured with concrete or built of bricks about 100 mm – 200 mm high. The eel’s surface slopes 2% on both sides to avoid water stagnation.

– Using resistors to dry the base of the insulation panels: This method is simple, easy to install but has high operating costs. Rarely used now.

– Use ground ventilation pipes for insulation panels: For warehouses with masonry floors, to avoid ground freezing. The most economical measure is to use background ventilation pipes. The ventilation pipes are 100 mm diameter PVC pipes, arranged about 1,000 mm – 1,500 mm apart, zigzag under the floor, both ends open to the air. During work, wind enters the pipe, exchanges heat with the ground and warms the ground, preventing freezing.

3. Air leakage phenomenon:

Reason:

– When shipping goods or opening the door for inspection, outside air will penetrate the warehouse, causing significant heat loss and affecting preservation mode.

– The hot wind outside moves into the cold storage from above the door and the cold wind inside the room rushes out from the bottom of the insulation panel.

– The process of penetrating outside air into the cold storage not only de-cools the room but also brings a amount of moisture into the room and then accumulates on the cooling coils, affecting the system’s performance.

Remedies:

– Use windscreen fans to prevent air from entering the warehouse.

– When the cold storage is large, people build a buffer room to prevent outside air from entering the cold room.

– Use 600 mm x 600 mm archways to enter goods.

– Use plastic screens assembled from many small pieces. These plastic panels have good cold resistance and high durability. The eyelids are folded over each other at least 50 mm to ensure convenience for people walking and when there are no people coming in or out, the curtain is very tight.
